I applied online. I interviewed at Boots (Newark on Trent, England) in Apr 2024
Interview
Went in for an interview expecting to be there for an hour and had been asked to prepare to do some tasks on the shop floor. Instead I was interviewed by 2 customer advisors who had never done an interview before - apparently the manager was off sick??? They kept skipping over questions, so I didn’t get to answer almost any of the ones I’d prepared for, and instead asked me the most obscure questions while rushing me through my answers. Kept giggling while I was talking and had no idea what they were doing with the interview process overall. I felt so uncomfortable and they rushed me out after about 10 minutes, I wasn’t made to do any tasks on the shop floor like I’d been asked to prepare for in the email. Would have been nice to be actually interviewed by a manager or someone who knew what they were doing, especially because I assume the manager interviewed the rest of the candidates who had interviews at a later date. Obviously i was rejected but really feels like I wasn’t given a fair chance from the start tbh
Just standard interview questions to check competency. Felt like a normal conversation nothing too invasive. Just things like that when was one time you delivered excellent customer service or how to do so.

Question 1
Give one time you offered excellent customer service
Not bad, as long as you’re confident, they were very welcoming. It was a bit lengthy but I enjoyed it and come out feeling postive, it’s overall just to see if you’d be a good fit
Quick and easy. Standard retail interview. Was asked to talk about one of their products, to talk about myself. Was asked about my availability too. Good luck if you’re applying!
