I applied to the role online and received a note from HR that they were interested in speaking with me. I had a phone screen with HR and it went well...until they asked the salary question. I gave my number which I don't think was high at all and the conversation was basically over. The person I was speaking with said they'd have to check in on that and it was higher than the budget range they had. It made me wonder why they didn't just let ME know what the range was instead of asking the awkward question. If they had read my resume they would know I'm not exactly entry level and what did they think I would want to live on in the Boston area? It also made me wonder what they pay their employees. The salary range I gave was low for the Boston area. I would think a tech company could do better. I never received any type of follow up note either even though I sent a polite thank you to the interviewer.
