Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interview process was quite friendly and transparent, questions ranged from previous experiences, to "Why Carto?", "Why Customer Success?", etc. and involved a great amount of explanation on the business itself.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Carto
Interview
The interview consisted of multiple steps. The first interview was a generic discussion with CARTO HR. The second step in the process was a take-home test. The test took a few hours to complete. It included a GIS/mapping portion, as well as questions about databases and the geospatial industry. Once submitted, I interviewed members of the Customer Success team at CARTO. We discussed the answers I provided on the take-home test and I was able to ask some questions about working at CARTO. After that, there was a take-home assignment. The assignment was to prepare a 15-minute presentation in a style similar to a Customer Success QBR. This took me a few hours to prepare. In the next interview, we went through a role-play of the presentation I put together. I presented for 15 min in front of other members of the Customer Success team. During this interview, I was able to ask more questions about CARTO CS, and they also asked questions about my skills and work history both in GIS and CS sectors. The interview process took many weeks (as I was also working a full-time job at the time, making it difficult to schedule next steps). This was one of the more intricate interview processes I have endured. Although long, I was able to highlight my soft skills and technical skills through the role playing portion.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What are the main pillars of CS? What is a tricky client-facing situation you have overcome? What is your experience with databases?
First had an interview with the recruiter to discuss my background. Moved on to a panel interview with the hiring manager and someone on the team. From there, they asked me to spend a few hours creating a presentation based on a customer scenario. For the third interview, they asked me to present AND role-play dealing with a customer for ~20 minutes. After all the work during the interview process, I was rejected with a vague reason.
