The overall interview process consisted of 4 virtual meetings and 2 exercises. The first interview was a standard screening interview with HR where they disclosed that the process was rigorous and shared the reasons for their cautious candidate selection. I appreciated the transparency and acknowledgement that a process like theirs can be taxing. Many companies don't take the time to acknowledge the amount of effort it takes to work through multi-step interviews, so this helped set my expectations. The next step was a "take-home" assignment just to check skills and understanding needed for the role. The second interview was with 2 employees on the CS team and offered a chance to talk through "what-if" scenarios. For the third interview, I had a prompt to prepare for a role-playing scenario. The team on this call played through the 15min scenario. Compared to other interview processes that have requested similar tasks, I appreciated the amount of real-time feedback and reflection following the scenario. Lastly, the final interview was with the hiring manager and CSO. This was a great opportunity to understand the culture fit and learn more about the future of the company. Overall, this was a rigorous interview process and not for the faint of heart. What it succeeded in doing was ensuring that I was dedicated to the company and role and gave me a chance to have multiple interactions with the team and manager to make sure it was a good fit for me. Regardless of the amount of steps involved, I felt they were as quick as they could be in coordinating next steps and providing feedback. There was always an effort to be transparent throughout the process, which is not often the case with hiring practices these days.
