I rarely leave reviews, but this interview experience was so unprofessional that it felt necessary to share.
This interview was conducted via Teams and lasted a total of 20 mins. From the start, it seemed like the interviewer either hadn’t read my resume or wasn’t interested in the conversation. Despite having nearly a decade of experience/education in the legal profession (including as a licensed attorney), the interviewer stated, “So you have no negotiation experience,” completely ignoring the clear details in my resume and application.
I was also interrupted while discussing indemnification clauses and asked to define “indemnification”—a basic legal concept I was taught my first semester of law school, not to mention I’ve been a contract attorney for years. After I correctly explained it, she acknowledged that I was correct and that most people she interviews don’t know what it is. In another part of the interview I mentioned reviewing/editing a stock sale contract for the first time and how quickly I adapted to something new with no mistakes. She proceeded to hold her mouth open in response as in disbelief and demand to know how many pages long the contract was. When I responded by saying that was a few years ago I don’t remember the exact page number, she said to give her a guess. These interactions felt less like a professional dialogue and more like an attempt to discredit me.
There were multiple other instances of condescension, dismissiveness, and inappropriate facial expressions throughout the interview, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll stop there.
When I was invited to ask questions, I took the opportunity to learn more about the company. I asked what she liked about working there and what the culture was like, an open-ended chance to highlight anything positive. Her response was surprisingly negative. Aside from mentioning the company’s positive impact on laboratories and healthcare, she described the culture as “disorganized,” “intense,” and “overwhelming.” She said I’d be joining the “ground level of a global integration process” and tried to spin it as a positive after saying numerous negative things.
I next asked about the most challenging part of the job, and she responded impatiently with “What I just said.” That implied the company culture itself is the biggest challenge, as that is what I previously asked her about.
When I asked about the hiring timeline, I was told she’s “restructuring the contracts team” and doesn’t yet know what positions she’s filling, or when. She said she’d be hiring for something, but “it could happen last minute or not for a while”. This was confusing given that a specific role and salary range were posted.
Additionally, the job posting stated that 25–50% travel would be required. When I asked about this, I was told that was inaccurate and the travel would be very minimal, maybe once or twice a year to headquarters.
Overall, this interview was a frustrating experience, and I hope it isn’t reflective of Clinisys as a whole. To add to the experience, the rejection email stated, “We have now had the chance to review your profile…”, suggesting my application wasn’t even reviewed prior to the interview.
Finally, three days after receiving the rejection email from Clinisys, I was sent another email stating, “We have a new job matching your profile.” As I read further, I saw it was for the exact same position I had just been rejected for.
