      Senior User Experience Designer Interview

      Jul 29, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ConstructConnect (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2025

      Interview

This is my first ever public negative review of any peers in my industry. The interview was a standard but painfully repetitive interview process. You could tell from the way the UX organization, and especially the PM organization, operated that they aren't equipped to function outside their internal bubble. My impression was that this was a naive group, excited to finally start doing Scrum this summer, and they spoke about it like it had just been invented. The interview format was awkward. First, you meet with the head of the department. Then you're tossed into a group interview with the entire UX team, most of whom were clearly distracted and doing other things while on the call. The PMs at this company are a serious question mark. They seemed deeply familiar with internal politics and little else. When I asked how they planned to measure success, they looked at me like I was speaking another language. In one interview, two long-time employees and a brand-new hire were present. The long-timers mostly sat and grinned while the junior PM took over, firing off one cliché question after another: "What are your greatest strengths? Your greatest weakness? Interests outside work?" They fixated on the "greatest weakness" question and picked my answer apart. I got the feeling she was expecting some fake answer like, "My greatest weakness is I care too much." Depending on your job situation, you might want to skip this one. The recruiter is a mess. One day she calls you unexpectedly to say you're the greatest human alive. Then she ghosts you or sends short, vague emails. From what I saw, this company will take years to reach any kind of stable transformation, if they ever get there. If you need a paycheck, sure, give them a shot. But if you're already employed, I wouldn't. The process was unprofessional, full of oversharing and misleading behavior. I had major dental surgery coming up, and the recruiter encouraged me to delay it so I could be in training the next week. When that week came, she knew I was in pain and not sleeping well during the final interviews. After telling me I was perfect for the role and that everyone loved me, I was rejected because the junior PMs and a few of her peers weren't sold. I was completely thrown. I have kept a record of all of these and will be actively avoiding them the rest of my career.
