I applied online. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Jul 2017
Interview
I applied online and received an email back shortly thereafter inviting me for a phone interview. The phone interview was very relaxed and more of a conversation. I then took a series of skills assessments and a personality assessment. Think ACT/SAT type questions. Also consider looking at logic questions. If you've taken the LSAT before or have familiarity with the logic section of the LSAT this will also help you. The day after I completed the skills assessments I was invited to come on site for an interview.
I arrived in Madison the night before and stayed in a hotel in Downtown. That night I along with some other people interviewing for various positions went out to dinner with some current Epic employees. This is a good time to ask questions and is very laid back. We even got to share some funny stories and got great insight into the position and the company. The onsite interview is a full day experience. I was there from 9:30AM to 2:30PM. My day started off with a company overview and software demonstration. I then had an overview of the position with a current project manager. After that I had a traditional interview with another project manager. Following the first interview we had lunch in Epic's cafeteria. The food is actually amazing and you should take advantage of it. After lunch I gave a prepared 10 minute presentation on a topic of my choice. This is not that hard just make sure you choose something you can talk a lot about and are prepared to ask questions. They are really just trying to see how well you can communicate with people and how you act in different settings. I would keep this in mind throughout the day. After I finished my presentation I was then given a tour of the Epic campus. It is awesome and you should have fun with it. I then had a case study with another person interviewing for the same position. We tried to work off each other and again showed that we can communicate effectively. Finally, I had another interview with my recruiter. She will give some more overview of Epic and then ask behavioral questions. For both one on one interviews, every single question I was asked can be found on this website. I strongly encourage you to read through the questions and prepare for them. I even had notes for myself.
I received an offer about a week after I interviewed. They will contact your references so make sure you use people that will respond and actually say good things about you.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: What are five things you are not?
Q: On a scale of 1-10 how assertive are you? When is a time that you were assertive?
Q: One good thing and one bad thing each reference would say about you.
Incredibly long and tedious process; it honestly just felt like whoever could last the whole time got the job, because it felt that much of a test. The "interview" was information session after information session, and the actual interview wasn't even that hard. I think it is highly dependent on your test score.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Compared to the other possible job position [that they suggest to you], how do you like the project manager role in comparison?
The process starts with a role introduction from a current employee, then a skills assessment, and then an interview. The interview was completed in stages with sections done in group settings and an individual interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why project management as opposed to a more technical position?
3 rounds - with final round being multi part. You take an exam and a personality test and do a final interview, and presentation. The presentation could be over any topic.
