      Anonymous Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Evolve (Denver, CO) in Sep 2020

      Interview

Another company missing out on great candidates because their recruiters are awful. I applied and heard over two months later (which is fine with summer vacation and covid) and then had a phone interview with the recruiter. Questions in regards to the job were okay, but definitely not thorough enough for the hiring manager to then evaluate the candidate accurately. They also keep the phone call really short, so it feels time pressured to answer questions and there just wasn’t enough time to really discuss experience and skills. How can you get to know your candidate with only a couple questions? Give candidates more time - we’re not just numbers on a piece of paper. I had so many ideas I would have loved to share with the hiring manager, and that’s where they miss out by not vetting well enough. My biggest disappointment with this interview was how monotone and unenthusiastic the recruiter was. People you’re interviewing are excited to speak with you, and when you give off a negative vibe, it feels off putting to the candidate and makes for a very discouraging interview. Also, as someone who LOVES the travel industry, it was disheartening to hear their recruiter sound SO bored by the role, the company, and my experience. It’s really an ode to the company’s character when a recruiter sounds burnt out and could clearly care less. I’m a big believer that excitement and interest in a job and industry weighs more than checking every box on a job description. So it’s clear they lack enthusiasm for their work and recruitment process, and therefore miss out on some great people.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Evolve (Denver, CO) in Feb 2018

      Interview

I heard back from a recruiter pretty quickly after applying. It was the standard background questions, why you want to work for Evolve, etc. The recruiter then asked if I complete a writing exercise to test my knowledge of the position and how I would handle certain situations that could arise. After that submission, I was asked to come in for an interview with the current person in the role. It went well and it was rather informal and I left with a good feeling. After sending a thank you email and following up, two weeks later I was asked to come in to meet with someone from the executive team. This man left a bad taste in my mouth, kind of had an arrogant, "I'm super important" vibe. I followed up a week later to be told that they were going in a different direction. That was totally fine but I didn't receive much more than a "we're not moving forward with your application." After wasting about a month of my time and two vacation days, I felt they at least owed me somewhat of an explanation. Call me petty but I found the person that got the job instead on LinkedIn, and this person could not even spell their new title correctly......
