I was ghosted after the second round. I had a phone screen with a recruiter and an interview with the hiring manager. Both went well and were pretty standard interviews. I felt that both people I spoke to were engaged and the conversation went well, no red flags during the actual interviews. I was told I'd be contacted within a week about next steps. I reached out after ten days and politely gave them an out, but I got nothing back. While I totally understand if a stronger candidate emerged, it's unprofessional to ghost a candidate that's made it to the second round, especially after they've been proactive about the status of their candidacy.
