I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Focal Systems (San Francisco, CA) in May 2021
Interview
Interview process was typical, if not drawn out (i.e., they make you meet with two HR people separately before meeting with someone from the business). They make you take an aptitude test that is absurd. Questions from “what are you reading?” to “what do you think of Elon Musk.” You know where this is going…they need to know if you’re willing to sell your soul. I, personally, am not.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Focal Systems
Interview
Strange “interview”.
Met CEO in person at the office but we didn’t go inside. 🤷🏼♂️ Instead we deep dived one technical design problem the company was having. I proposed some solutions he said didn’t work, but I’m still pretty sure they would if properly implemented. Didn’t have a white board or computer or anything to prove my case. Talked about that one design for over an hour (of a “one hour” interview). No other questions, and the subject wasn’t even in the job requirements. So odd. No offer.
Pretty sure I got used as a free consultant. 🤣 I’ll blindly agree with CEO next time?
I wish the team luck.
