Glassdoor users rated their interview experience at Freeform Future as 8.3% positive with a difficulty rating score of 3 out of 5 (where 5 is the highest level of difficulty). Candidates interviewing for Mechanical Engineer Intern and Software Engineer rated their interviews as the hardest, whereas interviews for Software Engineer and Fabricator roles were rated as the easiest.
The hiring process at Freeform Future takes an average of 16 days when considering 12 user submitted interviews across all job titles. To compare, the average duration of hiring at similar companies like BlackRock, Inc. is 14 days, Fabricated Software, Inc. is 2 days, and Apple Inc. is 21 days. Candidates applying for Mechanical Design Engineer had the quickest hiring process (on average 7 days), whereas Process Engineer roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 30 days).
The interview process requires an immense amount of time and preparation, only for the company to show a complete lack of respect for your time in return. They expect rapid, immediate turnaround for scheduling, operating under the assumption that candidates have no other commitments.
The team and recruiter repeatedly emphasizes on the phone and interviews that they have a "chill" culture, but the reality on the ground is a cold, unwelcoming monoculture. During the grueling onsite interview, absolutely no one in the office seemed happy. Everyone appeared overly serious, and I didn't see a single person smile the entire time. There is also a glaring lack of diversity across the engineering teams. Throughout the panels, executive leadership treats the day like a hostile interrogation. Specifically, the CSO exhibits a massive ego and is openly rude; he will ask a question and aggressively interrupt or cut you off while you are actively answering or talking just to criticize you. On top of it, they seemed to be more interested in what your company is doing rather than your own individual contributions.
Furthermore, the physical office space felt cramped, overstimulating, and dangerous. The facility features massive, heavy industrial machinery placed directly along walking paths with zero safety guards in place for employees, alongside noticeable fumes.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Resume deep dive, technical system design, personal project deep dive
Asked a lot of behavioral questions regarding past experience, what I was looking for in my next roles, etc. Also some questions on technical language features I used in projects and some digging after that
I applied online. I interviewed at Freeform Future (Torrance, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
Had the first and only interview with the technical recruiter, after that, didn't receive any notification on whetther they were moving forward or not. Not even a "sorry, we're going in a different direction" email. I reached out to the technical recruiter a couple times asking for clarification and nothing. Straight ghosted me.
