      Customer Marketing Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at FullStory (Austin, TX) in Jun 2022

      Interview

Had an interview with a recruiter in late May 2022, she told me whole process would take about 3 weeks. Next met with the hiring manager for 30 mins. From there, was asked to complete a 1-2 hour challenge involving creating a ppt deck that included a customer marketing strategy, marketing email, and ideas on how to meet revenue targets. The challenge itself said to take 3-4 hours, so I asked for confirmation on the time to take- it was in fact 3-4 hours. After that, I moved on to team interviews which was four interviews back to back with various team members. At the end of the interviews (2+ hours later), I met with the recruiter again, who informed me that the process for hiring this role was delayed and the role would not start til August (this was mid June). Kinda wish I'd been told that before interviewing to that extent. Then, they told me due to another candidate's timeline that they would not even have a decision until late June. Probably should have bowed out then, but no, I waited, emailed to check on the status after June 27, and was told that the recruiter I was working with was OOO and would email me when back in office. She emailed me this week (a full 3 weeks after my final interview) and told me that she'd get back to me with a definitive answer in 48 hours. 48 hours later, I emailed to follow up and she tells me that she assumed I was no longer interested since I had not replied to her email two days earlier (which had no ask to do so.) I'm assuming I didn't get the job and would recommend not wasting your time interviewing with a company that is so disorganized and disrespectful of candidates' time.

To start, thank you for your feedback – even if it’s tough for us to hear that this was your experience. You put in a lot of time and work into our process, and we’d like to put sincere effort into reflecting on where we could have done better. We’d like to accept responsibility that we dropped the ball in creating a candidate experience that made you feel valued and assessed fairly. In an ever changing environment, timelines can fluctuate, but we should have provided more clarity on what you could expect at every step of the process – from the Challenge to the final decision. We also should have been more empathetic by not stalling your process due to another candidate. While we do have a flexible PTO policy (that we encourage folks to use!), we were simply not organized in our handoff. To address this, we’re implementing a more structured plan between team members going out of office to ensure candidates are kept in the loop. Your feedback has already given us insight into how we can improve, and we’re glad you shared it with us. Thanks again for taking the time to share openly and honestly. And we wish you only the best in your search and career.
