I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GNC (Chester, VA) in Aug 2011
Interview
I saw the ad on Craigslist and went to the store and applied for the job. I got a call about a week later and set an appointment for the interview. The manager has obviously never been train on how to interview someone. He was not asking personality questions or take me to the back to have a formal interview. We stood up the whole time as customers were coming in the store. i clearly put on my app that i had a full time job and the ad said that the job was flexible. I get a call almost a month later, I actually forgot I had applied there. he offered the job to me and I was hesitant because I didnt need the job. I told him that i would work there if I could have certain days off and he said ' employees are supposed to cover his schedule while he is in school'. weird to me but the days he needed off were the days I was asking for so I accepted. This was a franchised store so there was no background check or id required to start. Training is only hourly min wage commission is given to trainer until you complete training.
I am really good at sales and I knew a lot about ALL of the supplements there. I sold everything! I only kept the job because i always made high dollars in commision, left when the manager was getting to demanding.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
No questions were asked he just walked around the store talking about the items that must be sold.
Easy interview since the person really needed someone to hold the cashier position. All I had to prove was that I could do math and if I was available during the week.
Lied to during interview about bonus, never received any compensation. Non existent don’t count on getting anything other than hourly
Hourly pay is very low, not worth the effort due to manager responsibilities
The interview process was pretty straightforward and simple. If I might add, was very standard as well. Know a little about products and supplements, health and fitness, and you will be golden
