      Associate Marketing Manager Intern Interview

      Feb 16, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Mississauga, ON
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at General Mills (Mississauga, ON) in Jan 2014

      Interview

I applied online through my university's careers website. I had to include a paragraph within my cover letter that described a time when I demonstrated a great deal of leadership. They mentioned later that my cover letter and my example was the factor that stood out for them. I did not have a phone interview, they contacted me by e-mail and it went straight to one-on-one interviewing at their headquarters in Mississauga, ON. I had two individuals interview me, both took 35 mins. Standard behavioural questions (using the Situation, Action and Result method) and asked me a case question on Old El Paso. They were very welcoming, relaxed and easy to talk to. The response to hear back from them took about a week, following the interview. I was given the names of my interviewers prior to me going into the interview. It was a man and a women.

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

They asked me about a Case Study specific to Old Del Paso products. They said there was no right or wrong answer, they just wanted to hear my thoughts. Old El Paso is a planned purchase, their barriers to purchasing the products, are top of mind awareness and ease of convenience. Old El Paso has high household penetration, although the frequency that users buy it is very low throughout the year. How do we go about increasing the frequency of purchases? Old El Paso is considered on the same level as pizza and pasta.
