After seeing a job listed online (Glassdoor) that closely matched up with my skills and past experience, I sent in an online application. Later the same day I was contacted and asked to provide my preferred times for a phone interview. The phone interview was then scheduled 5 days later. I had a nice 30 minute phone conversation with someone from the group for which I was applying, and they told me that they probably wouldn't get back to me until after the holidays (this was mid-December). The first week back from the holidays I was contacted and asked if $x salary was acceptable to me (as it was a slight pay-cut from my current position at the time). I replied that it was acceptable as my current position required substantial travel whereas the position I was applying for did not. A week later I received an email informing me that I was invited to the final round in Minneapolis at headquarters. I also received links to take two online assessments. One of the assessments was driving at my personality / fit with the organization (questions like "Do you hate people who are lazy and unmotivated? At a party, which type of person are you (the center of attention, wallflower, etc.)?). The other assessment was actually very difficult. It was a deductive reasoning test where you had to answer 18 questions in 20 minutes. The questions were all pretty tricky and time-consuming, like "Jane works 5 hours a week. Bill isn't the slowest of the group, but isn't the fastest. Karl works twice as fast as Bill. Jane and Rhonda always finish at about the same time. etc. etc. Which statement is true?" I managed to finish the test, but you have to move really fast to get it done. I was given three potential dates to choose from and was given instructions on how to book travel. Luckily, I was able to pick a date that had less conflict with my current position, and was at headquarters the next week. I flew out on a Wednesday and then spent most of Thursday interviewing with various people (I think 5 people in total). After my last interview wrapped up around 3:30 pm I was given a voucher to take the cab to the airport and return home. The whole trip took less than 24 hours. The next morning I received a phone call offering me the position and describing some of the terms of the offer letter. A formal offer letter was attached in an email I received shortly after the phone call. The whole process stretched over about 7 weeks (because of the holidays), but in general, I found General Mills to be upfront about what to expect at each stage and quick with their turnaround time with the final offer.
