Gensler User Experience Designer interview questions

I spoke with a recruiter during the initial phone screen. They sounded very enthusiastic about my application and informed me they'd be forwarding my portfolio to the design lead and that I should hear back regarding an interview confirmation the following week. I followed up that week and never received a response. One month later I received a rejection email stating the position had already been filled... Although this news wasn't surprising, I'm disappointed with the lack of communication and misinformation after the initial screen.
