I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Gilead Sciences

fairly straight forward process with interactions with the talent lead. phone screen and a day of on site interviews were scheduled with a panel of current executives within a similar role and or part of the extended team. overall organization was excellent with good flow to the interviews and discussions with the right executives

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) in Jun 2013
Interview
Two initial phone interviews followed by all day in person with 6 people from varying job code levels. Very informal style of questioning - more discussion, getting to know each other. Several people mentioned that "Gilead is no place to hide"
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Several competency based questions like: provide an example of when you missed a deadline, how did you handle that? As well as provide and example of a project that you managed where you had to influence without authority
The initial interview is a full day. Panels of 2 were common as were teleconference interviews. One or two people seemed to have been coached on behavioral interviewing techniques and asked similar questions. A very rosy picture was painted about the department and potential for advancement which is counter to what friends who actually work at Gilead have described.
