I applied for a position with Groupon about 5 months ago and they set me up for a phone interview shortly after I submitted my application. On the day of my phone interview, I received an email stating that the position I applied for would be obsolete until January. They said they would keep my application on file and contact me in January. I actually didn't hear from them until March, in which they did the same setup; phone interview to start, followed by being invited for an in-person interview.
The in-person interview seemed to go well, starting with two people from the department I interviewed for, the manager and finally with HR. It was a very comfortable interview, by the end they asked me what shift options I preferred and informed me that they would be picking an applicant by the next day. I guess I was not that chosen person after waiting for 2 weeks. It's completely understandable, but by them being such a well-known billion dollar company I would expect at least a email stating that they chose another candidate. Hanging in the wind after all the hoops you have to jump seems unprofessional.
