The first step was looking at their online jobs portal for open positions. I saw that I was qualified for the member support representative position, so I applied and filled out their supplementary questionnaire for the position. The online application involved inputting basic info about skills and education, but also included a multiple choice form to gauge applicant personality traits. I took issue with some of the questions, as they ofter set out an either/or choice between 2 options when I would have preferred to select both or neither options. I didn't get too hung up on it though. I got a call back from a recruiter at LC within about a week, and did a short phone screen. The recruiter then emailed me with an offer for an on-site interview. The interview process involved a short tour and introduction with the recruiter, followed by 2 one-on-one interviews, first with a mid-level manager, followed by the supervisor I'd be working under. Both interviewers asked questions about my customer service background, including asking me about any tough service situations I'd encountered in previous positions. After the interview process, it took a few days for the recruiter to get back to me with a conditional offer. The background check (criminal history, verification of resume & education, credit check) took about a week to clear following that. I was concerned about my credit check (I had roughly $1500 credit card balance - almost my credit limit on the card), but it all went through fine. I think that the credit check only raises a red flag if one or more of you're accounts is in default. After the background check cleared, it took another 2 days for the recruiter to get back with my final offer letter. Entire process took about 3 weeks from start to finish.
One bit of advice - I think the interviewers really appreciate it if the candidate asks poignant questions about LC when prompted, it will help a lot if you do some serious research on the company and prepare some good questions which draw a connection between the company and your own interests or goals.
