I was interviewed by the president and Vice President of the residential division at a restaurant. The interview itself went very well, they liked me and I liked them. I have a good job already, and I was recommended by a family friend, so there wasn’t a lot of pressure. They gave me an offer for the amount I asked the day after. I told them I’d think about it and discuss with my wife, and see if we had any questions. The next day, I emailed him my very simple questions (how does vacation work, how many sick days if any, is there overtime, etc). We touch base the next day, and the VP tells me he “doesn’t have a good feeling” like he did at the interview. Completely taken off guard, I let him know I was happy with his answers and gladly would accept the job. He said he’d get back with me in a few days. Two days later, he turned me down. After asking around what happened, I found out it was because I didn’t immediately accept the position based on the amount they offered.
