This is actually one of my favorite stories to share. I go in during their posted walk in interview times. The restaurant is surprisingly dead, which is nice when interviewing. I like to feel comfortable and confident speaking at a normal tone. I don't like to yell across a table to convince someone to hire me.
Anyways, I should with the hiring manager almost immediately and say, "I've done everything in a restaurant except bartend and cook." Keep in mind I'm applying to be a waitress but they're full up and I'm hard up on a job. She replies, "Well we don't serve alcohol here so how would like to be a cook?" I said, "you did just hear me right?" I've never cooked, but I'll accept the offer to expand my resume. "No problem. Give me a couple o' days and I'm sure I'll get the gist." I said. She responds, " it's a FOUR WEEK training process." Even better. "Then give me four weeks then." ,😜
