      Sample Accessioner Interview

      Sep 9, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Invitae (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2020

      Interview

It was a long week process from starting in a phone screening to remote video interviews with the lab technician and client representatives. So only as of recent, the were specifically asking your base knowledge of Covid 19 safety, and a little more about your work ethics. For this position, you don't really need to be specialized in data entry or biotech science (just getting an Associate degree is the minimum plus). So, yes this is basically a hybrid role for Data Entry and Laboratory Technician Assistant. I was perfect for the role, but the problem was this position is EXTREMELY underpaid, even for the qualifications alone (They're paying 17 per hour if you're wondering the exact amount). What's worse is that this job requires a lot flexibility to work in ANY day of the week (including weekends and federal holidays) and ANY time of the week (as in early 4:30 AM in the morning to 1:00 AM in the night). The interviewer said they "might offer overtime", but tone alone implies it will be highly not likely. How can you be in a Healthcare industry, claiming to be a "successful" and "booming" company when you are offering below the industry average in one of most expensive city AND demand flexibility in this position with requirement to stay ONSITE (increasing work hazard, regardless of the safety measures) Also, this isn't a permanent position like the other roles they've posted on the website. They want to see how "committed" their "temps" will be for the next probationary 6 months period (not 3 months) and with no appraisal pay raise or any company benefits duration of those half a year. This raises a lot of red flags for office fights in a guise of passive aggressive manner. Unless you're fatally desperate to need the money and have tough skin, don't count on working here.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They will ask about general scenario for lab work, ethnicity, and organization. I don't believe you're skills are going to be tested online, but do keep an eye on that.

Really long interview process, did it 3 times, with the last one lasting 1h30.... It was nice and professional but felt a bit much for an entry level position. They are quick to respond to let you know if you got in or not.
