I applied in-person. I interviewed at J. Jill (Freehold, NJ) in Nov 2015
Interview
This store, surprisingly, still had a paper application which I filled out on the spot. More specifically, I took the application out of the store so I could take my time in carefully completing it then brought it back about 15 minutes later. Upon returning the application, I had a brief conversation with the assistant store manager who told me she'd gladly pass my paperwork on to the manager who would be in the following day. Fairly early that next day, I did get a phone call from the store manager referring to my brief meeting the previous day with her assistant (who, she immediately told me was impressed with my presentation). We spoke for about five to eight minutes after with she asked my availability for an in-store interview. We were both satisfied to set the interview up for later that very afternoon! The interview turned into something more like a pleasant dialogue - a getting to know one another meeting - rather than an actual job interview. It was relaxed, easy-going and an exchange of ideas. This was one of those rare interviews in which I never felt intimidated, yet the manager conducted herself in a manner in which she did command my respect! At the conclusion of this meeting I left with a positive feeling and was told I would receive a call letting me know my status. It wasn't even a full day before I received that pleasant phone call offering me the position I had interviewed for and welcoming me on board!
