Interview was standard interview with no real technical questions (kind of odd for a highly technical role, should have been my first red flag). I was moved onto polygraph exam which I passed and “employee fingerprinting”. Three days later I got a standard rejection email. I have worked in this role before at the state level so when I got to this point in the process it’s pretty standard to assume you got the role (as that is how other agencies work as to not waste resources). I am highly disappointed in how this was handled as I was in contact with a few HR individuals up until this point in the process and corresponding etc. The rejection was very unprofessional and had zero explanation other than the role had just been filled. This isn’t my first rodeo as I know how long the process takes, interview, polygraph, background check, reference interviews etc. that all does not happen in a matter of 3 days for other candidates….so I can only assume they had ill intentions the entire time and weren’t looking to fill the role or already had it filed even when scheduling my polygraph and fingerprinting. I guess I dodged a bullet “literally”.
