I had 6 different rounds of interviews with Landing, all the team members I met happened to lack diversity completely. Yes it was a senior role, but I've interviewed for many senior roles previously.
After 6 grueling but enthusiastic rounds of challenging interviews where the team members wrote down many of my insightful answers, asked me about all potential foundational solutions for major upcoming challenges, only to turn me down in the end. It felt clear to me what was happening by the end of the 3rd interview round, but I really wanted to give it my best.
For their sake, I certainly hope the person who received this role brings some diversity. While I respect the decision-making process of any organization, the lack of feedback on my application left me puzzled about what qualities or skills were missing for the role. As a woman of color, I couldn't help but reflect on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, not just for the sake of representation but for the varied perspectives and ideas it brings to a team.
What was it about those 6 amazing and passionately engaging interviews that still left them unsure about my fit into their team. As a WOC who has seen my share of stereotypes and biases, I know exactly what this experience categorizes as. I want to warn other people who might be used for their knowledge and time, with no intention of being hired, it's not worth it.
