I interviewed for both the Stockholm and New York offices. The Stockholm team and hiring managers were professional and engaging, the initial recruitment coordination and the New York based screening process left much to be desired.
Stockholm Experience:
Once I reached the hiring manager and case interview stages, the experience was good. The team was courteous and professional.
My initial screening call was canceled without prior notice. After following up, I was told to check my spam folder for a reschedule link that never arrived. I eventually had to manually re-trigger the scheduling system to secure a call.
I learned during the interview process that my original recruiter had changed roles, which likely caused the communication gap. Additionally, this role has been reposted 3x since February, which may suggest a lack of clarity on the internal requirements for the position.
New York Experience:
The recruiter arrived late and appeared unfocused. One minute into the call, the recruiter turned off their camera to accept a food delivery, asking to pause the interview for 5 minutes.
The interviewer seemed distracted throughout the conversation, offering repetitive, scripted responses (e.g. "Yeah, love that for you") rather than engaging with my answers. The recruiter was dismissive and I felt like I was an inconvenience to them.
I was also informed that the role required a mandatory in-person presence. However, the interview was interrupted because the recruiter’s roommate "kicked them off the server" while they were working from home. This created a confusing message regarding the company's actual culture and remote work expectations.
My recommendation is to align the New York recruitment standards with the professionalism found in the Stockholm office. Ensuring recruiters are present, focused, and providing a consistent message regarding office policy would significantly improve the candidate experience and the brand's reputation.
