      User Experience Researcher Interview

      Jun 11, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (London, England) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I applied for the role via an aggregator job board and it took a few days before their internal HR contact to contact me to arrange a first interview. The first interviewed involved meeting the Research Manager and a Designer who gave a great idea of the team, work and the culture. I left feeling energised and excited. It took a while to get the second interview organised, and I found the internal recruiters approach to contacting me via text messaging a bit strange, but worked with it. I attended a final round and met the Head of UX as well as another UX Researcher and Product Owner. The people I met at M&S within the UX team were great, and very impressed. I was verbally offered the role at the end of December, but was informed that there was a recruitment freeze, and they would touch base and keep in me informed. I eventually heard from the internal recruiter in the new year, who sent me a text message asking when I was available to talk. I sent her my availability. The internal recruiter did not respond, and I wasn't too happy that I had to chase her the following day to learn the outcome. On the whole the recruitment experience was good, as the people who interviewed me were great. But, I found the communication between myself and the internal recruiter was a bit unprofessional and could have been better.
