I went in and presented myself to Customer Services, then warmly greeted by interviewer and instantly put at ease. It was just me at the interview and I was led upstairs into a manager's office (more like an interrogation chamber), and I met with another member of staff who gave me a tour of the store. I was then given a task involving stacking food (to test food prep knowledge and confidence) and presented my solutions and their applicability. I was given 5 minutes to do this. The interviewer then gave me a series of scenarios and I had to talk to him about the best course of action in each one: this took about 10 minutes. He then ran through M&S's four 'I's and I had to give examples based on these criteria of my suitability for the position I applied for. He went out to mark my scores and returned almost instantly, telling me that I would hear in the next few days about the results. The main thing they look for is for you to put the priority with the customer in the scenarios (see below question and answer) by suggesting you would help them any which way, to the ends of the earth if need be.
