I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Marks & Spencer (Brighton, England) in Aug 2015
Interview
Completed online tests then immediately after was told I had passed this bit and was given the option to select an interview date. On the interview day I went to the customer service desk where my interviewer met me, she was really nice and friendly and made me feel at ease. She took me into a little room and explained to me the interview process. The first stage was a role play where I was given several sheets to look at and asked to play the role of someone working at this made up store (similar to M&S), whilst my interviewer played the role of the customer. I was supposed to have 5 minutes but my interviewer said she would give me 10 as she thought it was quite a lot to memorise. After the 10 minutes she came back in and we went straight into the role play which was fine. I asked her if she needed any help and she said she wanted to buy some butter nut squash but couldn't see any. It was out of stock so I offered her some alternatives, said I could call another store or arrange delivery but she said she needed it today and didn't want to go to another store. I then promoted an offer they had on a new range of food and she was happy with this. After that I was given a feedback sheet to fill in with questions like what went well, what didn't go well and what I would do differently next time. She looked over my sheet and said I has passed this stage and we would go on to the interview.
Was asked basic interview questions and then some at the end about M&S's 4 I's that I did quite badly on - would recommend looking this up and thinking of scenarios when you have shown this - i.e. integrity and innovation where 2 of them I think.
She said I had done well and would be called on Friday if I had the position. Received no phone call so there must have been a better candidate.

Interview
Initially went and the last candidate overran (i waited for 40 minutes extra) so my interview got moved to next week. Original interviewer wasn't available so a colleague performed it. They could not find the interview sheet so had to come up with questions on the spot and get my details again. I was a bit annoyed but I think the interview was okay.
