I applied to an Account Manager position with Metro One LPSG and was contacted within a few days by the Performance Manager. The Performance Manager invited me to come for an in-person interview the next day. I arrived on-site for the interview and the person conducting the interview did not have a private/quiet area to conduct the interview so we used the cafeteria which was very noisy and filled with employees. This process was bothersome as it took my attention and the interviewer's attention away from the matter at hand. The interview seemed to be going well at first until I asked why the position was open. I was informed the position was open due to the previous Account Manager quitting without notice due to the OT she was forced to work WITHOUT PAY. The Performance Manager then proceeded to inform me that although the position was posted on-line at the rate of $25/Hour, it is actually a salaried role. He elaborated that the role was previously an hourly role so she was paid for all hours worked but after the transition to salary she was still expected to work as many hours but essentially her hourly rate was reduced to approx.. $15.38/Hour as she was no longer paid hourly but was working the same amount of hours. The interviewer could see that this was concerning to me as well and proceeded to tell me that this amount of hours would not be a permanent situation as they were working to fill all open positions which would lessen the amount of OT for the Account Manager. I then met with the recruiter and the Performance Manager and she stated the same thing but I felt something was off. They could sense my trepidation regarding the role and we pretty much ended the interview after that. I was informed that I would be contacted with the next steps, and quite honestly, I am glad I was not contacted by them again as this company seems to be cutting every corner possible right from the start, I can't even imagine what it would be like to actually work for them.
