Applied online in November of 2024. I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview consisted of about 6-7 questions. I did really well during my phone interview. The manager then told me that my second interview would be with the person over him. Weeks go by and I never heard back from the store. I then contacted the corportate office for Murphy USA just to ask for a follow up about my application. After, constantly calling corporate and submitting tickets online, I received a call from my local Murphy USA informing me that I had a scheduled 2pm in person interview for 1/2/25. I went to my interview about 25 minutes early and had to stand outside the whole time until the manager was ready to see me. Next the same manager who did my phone interview showed up to greet me, shake my hand and asked that I step to the side of the gas pumps so that he could interview me. too tell you the truth I didn't understand why I was having a second interview with the same person. The manager basically asked me the same questions he asked via phone. Towards the end of the interview he, asked that I do not be upset if I am not chosen for the job because he is looking for people who desire management role. He talked to me a lot about looking for people who can run the store in his absence and he touched on how he was looking for someone who had a desire to take his spot. Overall, the interview was okay but after the interview ended and I went back home I realized that Murphy USA was not the right company for me. I sent a email and asked that my application be withdrawn. I requested that my application be withdrawn due to application and hiring process. If a store has a cashier position available then you are seeking a cashier. I didnt like how the hiring manager was judging and rejecting application based off who wanted to become a manager. I felt the hiring manager was hiring for a cashier position but really looking for someone to train as a manager. I was interested in climbing the ladder but just didnt like how the manager went about rejecting applications based off who was ready to move to the top.

The interview was fairly quick . No hard questions and attitude was warm and welcoming. Fun and very understanding . The managers and staff are all awesome and the crew has a fun vibe and makes working with the company fun so that you don’t go in to work mad or anything they make it very fun
