I was contacted by a third party recruiter. Throughout the whole process the recruiter kept insisting Odyssey was very excited about me, even though it was obvious they really weren't.
The first interview was a tech screen where the interviewer acted like they wanted to be anywhere but here. They had me do some basic coding test and then quizzed me on random software engineering definitions as if this was essential to my role.
I couldn't get a complete answer on whether the role was remote or work from home, or on the benefits. Everyone who interviewed me worked from home, but I was being told it was in the office. I couldn't even get the correct number of days of PTO, the recruiter told me 10, the interviewer said 15. Because the benefits were so bad, I asked for an increase in compensation, which the recruiter told me was "absolutely no problem and deserved".
The second round was again another coding challenge, because for some reason one is enough. A different interviewer this time, also appeared like he hated his job, or at least that he had to interview me. I got one of the questions wrong, and that was the end of the interview cycle for me.
At that point they ghosted me, I never heard back from the 3rd party recruiter even though I tried calling, emailing or texting him. I sent him an email and BCC'ed the C level employees of his recruiting agency and I got a reply and call back within 5 minutes.
He proceeded to gaslight me, said he did respond and told me they passed (he didn't), and then had the audacity to say that Odyssey was upset that I was making such a big deal about money, when he had previously told me that money was no issue.
