I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PagerDuty in May 2024
Interview
I recently interviewed with PagerDuty and had an overwhelmingly negative experience. I was asked to create an account growth strategy for FedEx and submit it 24 hours before my interview. Despite the unaccommodating scheduling process, which forced me to cancel critical professional events, I dedicated three days to producing a comprehensive and well-researched strategy.
During the interview, the hiring manager praised my work and even mentioned it would be forwarded to the Account Executive for action. This left me feeling like my hard work was being used without any offer or benefit to me. Initially scheduled for 25 minutes, the mock discovery call was cut down to 15 minutes on the spot. Both interviewers were rude and dismissive, creating an unnecessarily hostile environment.
Despite receiving positive feedback on my active listening skills and teachability, the interaction was unprofessional and demeaning. I was talked down to in a manner I have not seen men subjected to in similar situations. Furthermore, despite assurances of prompt follow-up, two weeks later, I am still waiting to hear back about the next steps or even receive a formal rejection.
Overall, this deeply disappointing experience has left a bitter taste and significantly tarnished my perception of PagerDuty. I would not recommend interviewing with PagerDuty unless substantial improvements are made to their interview process and candidate treatment.
