Interview
Had a phone screening with HR a couple weeks after applying online. An in-person interview with the hiring manager and another senior manager followed shortly after. The interview was split into 2 parts-- they asked general interview questions in the first 30 min, and the next half we did a few exercises on reading graphs. I should have reviewed their publications beforehand, that's mostly where they pulled from. Second round of in-person interviews oddly didn't involve the hiring manager. Instead it was with the head of the whole department for one half and senior associates (plus one) for the other half. I didn't get the position, though they had me "on hold" for several weeks while they finalized their new hires. I learned later on that they hired from within and one of the people they hired interviewed me! Kinda shady.

Question 1
When did you go against the grain? and how did it turn out successful?

Interview
One round as a phone screening, very low stress and she said on the spot that I would be moving forward and speaking with the hiring manager. About 45 minute with the hiring manager, we had a great conversation that was very natural and it was clear she herself had a lot of experience and knew how to interview. Was expecting to hear back within 2 weeks and even reached out to the HR person, but heard nothing back. This is my first time ever being ghosted by a company, and with the resources they have, you would think they'd at least respond to an email.
1) phone screening interview- just a short call to make sure I was interested in the position 2) virtual interview with direct manager- one hour to discuss my resume and the job in greater detail 3) virtual interview with 3 people- asking questions about my experience and interest in the role
