Mechanical Engineering Leadership Development Program Interview

      Jul 23, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Phoenix Tailings in Jul 2025

      Interview

The interview process was completely unprofessional and appallingly rude. The process was shady from the start. The recruiter ran a list of questions and could not answer one question I had. The next interview was with the director of operations who skipped my first interview without notice, and rescheduled it two days later. The interview went well, but it was hard to get a word in. The final interview was also rescheduled TWICE for unknown reasons, the second time being the morning of. Halfway through the final interview, the team decided to cut the interview short and basically walked out while I was still speaking without a word or goodbye. Very rude and unprofessional. The recruiter who was on the call had to do recon. The interview question was to prepare a deep-dive technical solution to their production problems. They basically want you to solve their problems unpaid, which I know is true because one of the previous interview questions they mentioned actually using in their manufacturing process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked for a deep-dive technical presentation about what issues can arise during their end-to-end manufacturing and extraction processes and how you would design a system to solve them.
