I was contacted by the first recruiter with vague messages about having a company that is interested to hire me. I asked him for details and I told him if I don’t see a fit I don’t want to waste either of our times. He did not provide the details I was asking for and somehow managed to track my personal cell number and call me. We spoke on the phone while he continued to refuse to provide concrete details, all while assuring me that the company will be respectful of my time. He down played my experiences multiple times in an attempt to prepare for offering an inadequate salary, which he made clear during our conversations. We ended the call with this recruiter promising to follow up. He did not and I reached out to know where I am standing. The conversation was strange with the recruiter claiming we have mutual connections, and him making ungrounded offers. I asked if he wants to continue with the process or not. So he sent me to another recruiter.
The second recruiter followed up with me. The new recruiter was much better at conversing. She set me up with two meetings. One with a higher level employee and the other with a panel. Had good conversations, especially after the higher level employee recommending I move forward in the process. I was told by the panel that I’ll have a reply next day. I emailed a few days later to ask where I am standing and I was told that the experience was positive but they will go with another candidate. I requested a phone conversation to have a deeper understanding about what the company is looking for because I have contacts asking me about the opportunities there, but I continued to receive vague replies.
I was told during the interview process that the company is working on improving its processes and its growth especially after losing many employees. It seems that the reviews on Glassdoor explain the challenges PowerPlan is facing, but the hard part is to see that they are continuing with unimproved processes.
I say it with all good intention: if the first interaction of a potential future employee are recruiters that do not respect the candidates, it is difficult to believe that the company is doing well internally.
