A recruiter called me from Precoa. He did an excellent job and set up a 1:1 interview with the Regional Director. I enjoyed meeting with him very much and I was sold on the position. (Precoa is a marketing company. Not a funeral home pre-need service or pre-need insurance) you will not be working for Precoa. My next interview was with a lady at Krause Funeral Home which is whom you will be actually working for as a 1099 contractor. There was a Precoa manager in the room as well, observing the conversation. Then things started to get weird. I met with a lady that has worked there for 25+ years. The interview lasted 3 hours with the lady doing most of the talking. (Very deep low toned explanations and questions) She started the interview with. “all though your goatee is very flattering how attached are you to it?" Krause will not let you EVER have any facial hair! (Okay, I could shave it off. I'm a 1099 right?) Precoa said as a 1099 I could make my own schedule, even block out a day if I didn't want to work. Krause said, “everyone that works there, works a minimum of 60 hours a week." "If you’re not on a sales call you’re expected back in the office." (I'm a 1099 right?) She told me after you invest in getting your life insurance license the training will start. She said "the training will be 12 HOUR days for 3 to 4 weeks (at my expense) and will more INTENSE than anything I have ever experienced in my LIFE" (What? Really? Why would I put myself through that and I'm not even getting paid?) IF you make it through the (Krause boot camp) you would start to get some leads on rotation with the other four Krause pre-need reps.The leads are not managed by Precoa. Krause decides on who gets the leads. She said "the last girl in training made it half way through and one day she came in and "didn't do what she said she would do" and they let her go. (Really? Nice!) Then she said "the Krause's are very unique family." I couldn't believe this was happening. Precoa made this sound like a dream job. (You’re not working for Precoa) The lady at Krause scared me away. I was astounded. I would consider working for Precoa but with another funeral home that would respect me as a true 1099 contract employee. Krause wants the benefits of a 1099 and want to treat you like a W2 without any benefits or salary. I beLIEve the Krause's would have had other weird requests down the road with threats to let you go. You're only a 1099.
