      QA Engineer Interview

      May 30, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at QA Wolf

      Interview

The interview were well explained and straight forward. I was given a take home project and the trick is to go ‘above and beyond’ of what they asked. Got into onsite and also quite practical, wrote test cases and got paid for the time spent on the interview. I did not get the offer which were ok. I did try to reapply because i ended up like what I did during the interview and was hoping to reapply. However, they rejected because they prefer the soemone whom never got onto the onsite before. One day, I think either because i reapplied again or they went through the list of those who got rejected and decided to send a coding assessment again. I tried my best to complete the project at the best I could. A few day later they rejected me and in the email was said ‘ At this time we are primarily considering first-time candidates, but will let you know if that changes. ’ I’m sorry but how unprofessional are they, they know that people will do everything to get the job in this market, we spent time and effort thinking we might have a shot. If you don’t want to consider the candidate whom applied in the past then why bother send us the assessment peoject? I was not the only one that got rejected it this. I was really disappointed with the hiring ethic of this company and will not reapply again. It seems like a great place to work but they shouldn’t be treating the candidate this way. I guess you just got the be excellent at the first time round and they will ignore you even though you are passionate about the role or try to improve your skills to get the role.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at QA Wolf

      Interview

Takehome assignment consisting of Playwright tests, non-compensated, that you must do in your own time. Nebulous requirements about what makes it go "above and beyond". You go above and beyond, obviously, teach yourself Playwright, spend hours of your life on their assignment, and receive a vague email message 2 weeks later that you didn't go above and beyond *enough* by some arbitrary standard. Avoid. They didn't even watch my Loom.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at QA Wolf (Reminderville, OH) in Dec 2025

      Interview

Take-home project with baseline expectations to scrape a site for determining the sequential order of posts on a page, but yeah, you guessed it, they are expecting that you spend hours competing against other 'hypothetical candidates who will add advanced features and go beyond basic requirements' without compensation. (email I replied to them with) ------ Lol If you're going to require people to include certain materials in their application, it would be fair to actually review/watch the materials they spent time uploading and working on. 0 views on the Loom you required that I upload, with no way to actually edit clips unless I pay for a Loom account. It was work on a project that I took time out to do for free and your response, instead of at least being appreciative of the fact that I did the work, is to say that I didn't cover extra credit points. You do realize that candidates who have the luxury of time will be able to complete that and that it's not an assessment of core competency, but rather who's willing to sell themselves out the most and spend hours without compensation. I have other duties (that will actually pay me) besides working on pointless assignments you are going to nitpick.
