The assignment is very simple and there aren’t many instructions, but they expect you to go way beyond that. Even if you do, it seems like they’ll still find reasons to say it’s not enough. Honestly, I have no clue what they actually want or what it takes to get to the next round, there’s zero transparency.
I went way above and beyond with extra tests, error handling, API calls, and a UI. Then they sent me a generic rejection with a list of things I could have done better — all things I’d already done. When I pressed for more info, they said one test missed a few edge cases. No real feedback, no chance to fix it, just a brush-off.
Considering the work is unpaid and the pay they offer is below market, this process felt disrespectful, misleading, and just a huge waste of time. Don’t bother applying. The only good thing I got from this was a nice portfolio piece.
