Interview
Standard 2-day academic faculty interview process. Most of the days focused on individual 30 minutes meetings with different future colleagues, which were generally quite casual. Quality of the conversations varied depending on the interviewers, but most were very pleasant. One actually told me in individual conversation that I was a very strong candidate, which made the experience easier. Meeting with "higher up" focused on describing some of the aspects of salary and benefits. There was a "research talk" and some thoughtful questions from the faculty. Some social meals with groups of people. Generally a friendly tone - felt more like an informational interview to clarify "fit" based on research and teaching needs and resources.

Question 1
Not many standard questions. A lot of discussion of academic aspects and the local environment. One interviewer asked me to explain more about my scientific background.
Typical two day - job talk included along with meeting the dean. The process is long but it was overall okay. The travel is hard due to the location. Sometimes traveling can be inconvenient but inthink that might be getting better - overall good process but hectic and disorganized

Interview
After applications there was a phone interview and then I was one of three candidates brought in for a full day in-person series of interviews. These included meetings with the Dean, Chair, Program Director, and in small groups most of the rest of the faculty. Additionally I had a Dinner before with the search committee. The day of Breakfast and dinner I was on my own. Lunch was with a selection of current undergraduate and graduate students (not really any interested in my field, i.e. they did not succeed in getting students that would be a good fit for me). The day also included a research talk that was more a teaching sample and has as many undergraduates as faculty in attendance. All in attendance completed ratings forms.
