I applied online from a job board and heard back quickly. The interviewer and I spoke over Zoom and it went amazingly. We were scheduled to chat for 30 minutes; we spoke for closer to 90 minutes. She assured me to check my inbox for updates on the next round no later than 2 - 3 days from our initial call. We ended the call with smiles and positivity. Then she ghosted. I emailed her. No reply. I emailed again. No reply. I finally disclosed that I was moving ahead with other companies and she spontaneously replied to keep her updated if I receive an offer because she wanted to move forward with me. Then she ghosted and I have never heard from her since, not even an auto-reply. I have no idea what happened, but it was a colossal waste of cognitive and emotional labor. No one from the company ever reached out and no one from the company offered closure. My impression is the company is dysfunctional and poorly rub. The massive negative reviews should have given me an indication, but I ignored them - to my own peril! My advice: Take the negative reviews seriously. If this is how they mistreated a candidate they *liked*, imagine the mistreatment you'll get as an employee. Or, don't imagine it; read the negative employee reviews as I should have done.
