1) initial recruiter talk ~15mins 2) take “quiz” ~10mins 3) small-ish project with a few key asks (1day) 4) Technical Interview - this is as far as I got. Went over different questions that were related to the quiz. 5) I was told that they would possibly want another project/example to be done after the technical interview but I didn’t make it that far I was told that this was for a Sr PHP role but some of the questions on the quiz were a bit advanced for “off the top of your head” knowledge. They even mentioned to not use AI/Google as if we won’t use these things in our day-to-day or something. The technical interview was scheduled to last 1.5hrs. All their tech people are based in the Czech Rep which is fine but the tech interview was scheduled for 9a ET with another time option of 8a ET, not exactly ideal but something tells me that there will be weird time demands due to the location of all their tech people if you were to get this position. I was there until the 45min mark when the Staff engineer stopped the interview and said I wasn’t senior enough based on my responses. All fine and dandy but the actual title of the job should have been “Experienced Lead SW Engineer” instead of “SW Engineer” because that’s what they’re looking for. It was a waste of my time due to the fact that they have no idea what they’re asking for in this new hire. They employ the dumb quizzes and test coding exercise which is a sad and tired trope at this point in the SW world. As I said, they’re in the Czech Rep, there was a noticeable language barrier as the main staff engineer was hard to understand. I’m not use to a thick Czech accent so it was a bit difficult to understand at times.
