      PR and communications lead Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sidetrade in May 2025

      Interview

I applied between 3-4 weeks ago after seeing the role on LinkedIn and roughly a week later received an email around half 10 on a Sunday evening from a member of their senior team stating they had my cv but no cover letter and they were only considering applications with cover letters. The person went on to say that they wanted to know my career trajectory as most of my role had been short and they were looking for someone they could collaborate with and that person had to be based in London. I responded with a cover letter to which I received an acknowledgement the next morning. An hour later I received an email from the recruiter informing me that they would like to hold a discovery call (I guess that was their name for a screening call) to find out a bit more about me and tell me more about the company along with role. I sent over my availability and the call was scheduled for 30 minutes. From start to finish the call was intense and lasted a total of 1 hour 7 minutes. A whole 37 minutes longer then originally stated. The recruiter kept firing questions at me throughout the call from what your legal right to work is to and what was the biggest budget I had managed. Other questions included what I knew about Ai, What did I know about Sidetrade, what specifically made me apply for this role and what was I looking for in my next role. At the end of the interview I managed to ask a couple questions around communications such as "how do they measure the success of their communication strategies" to which the recruiter struggled to answer and said they didn't know and that would be a better question to ask the hiring manager. I asked another question and received a similar responnse to the first and the recruiter said they didn't want to give me the wrong anwer so, again wait until I have an interview with the hiring manager. Just before the call ended the recruiter asked if I had any work examples I could send over and I said yes and shortly after the call ended I sent over a blog I had written. After the bank holiday I received an email from the recruiter saying they had passed on my work examples to the hiring managers and would get back to me with an update. I then sent over another piece of work to which they recruiter said it was great and thanks for sending it over! After a week of not hearing anything I see this morning that the very same job I thought I was being considered for has been reposted on LinkedIn as recent as yesterday. I withdrew my application this morning and I wouldn't apply again to this company nor recommend them to anyone. Thank you for the unprofessional and disrespectful treatment. Yet again I have been ghosted.
