      Server Interview

      Dec 13, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Meridian, ID
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Texas Roadhouse (Meridian, ID) in Dec 2023

      Interview

I am not someone who makes reviews, purely cause I’ve never had a job that’s made me need or want to, but Texas Roadhouse accomplished that, and not in a good way. I’m a server, with 3.5, coming up on 4 years of serving experience, and have never had an interview process like this. I wasted 5 separate days on this place. TLDR: This place is a scam. When I was first looking for jobs, I looked on their website, they weren’t hiring. Whatever. Then, maybe a week later, they had a job posting for server and about 4 other positions, that had been open about 3 days. Meaning JUST posted. (That part is key). I applied, they called me and told me to come in between certain hours (before they opened) for an interview. I show up, and am told by someone who not only wasn’t even a manager, but wouldn’t let me speak to one because it was busy (it wasn’t, they weren’t even open) that they aren’t hiring and to try again in the future. Huh? Come in next day, finally get a manager, and she tells me she doesn’t have time, even though I was just told 24 hours before to come in, and to come in tomorrow. Fine, annoyed, but it’s a restaurant, weird things happen. I come in the third day, and when I got another manager, it happened to be the owner, who seemed confused as to why I was there, as if they weren’t hiring, but he gave me about 5 minutes and told me that he wasn’t hiring, and that he had 7 transfers coming in, but he’d keep in touch if anything came up. WHEN I THOUGHT THAT WAS IT. A week later, I get an email, with the wrong name (friend got an email as well, also wrong name) saying that I was chosen to come in for an interview. Weird, seeing as I was told they weren’t hiring, but works for me. I go in and not only did he try to do 2 interviews at once, it took about maybe 2 minutes each of us, without even asking either of us about our experience or anything, for him to say, “oh I can’t hire you, so you’ll have to come in and speak to the other manager” Fifth times the charm. I went in a week later, when I was scheduled BY ANOTHER MANAGER IN PERSON, waited 45 minutes to be spoken to, only to be told in 3 minutes by the owner who had already seen me once and told me they weren’t hiring, that he is still not hiring and he had “no idea why they were hiring” and that the email was “to move an applicant to candidate”. I’m not going to get into that. But what an absolute waste of time and probably the worst profesional experience I’ve ever had. DO NOT WORK HERE. If that’s how they treat possible newcomers, god knows what they get treated like once they’re permanent.
