Do not trust the pay ranges listed in the job postings. If the range is 80-120K, and you ask for 115 - they will not even talk you. The recruiter explained that anything above the midpoint (100K in this case) requires an exception and almost impossible to get. He hinted, although politely, to drop the application process, which I politely refused. Needless to say, I never got to an actual interview and was rejected in about 5 weeks. If you feel that your skills worth a salary closer to the top of the range, and you hope to be judged by the experience you can offer - spare yourself a disappointment.
