I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Triplebyte (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2016
Interview
I interviewed to get access to their network of companies (i.e., not to become a Triplebyte employee). The interview was technically challenging, and kind of a fun process. Granted, I generally enjoy interviews/tests, but I didn't feel like there was any BS in the process.
The longest portion of the interview was a "practical coding challenge", during which I was expected to build a miniature project. The interview guide they had sent me several days beforehand had prepared me well for what to expect, and I was allowed to look up whatever documentation I wanted during the interview. I also had a single short algorithm problem, and a few system design questions.
Throughout, my interviewer, Daniel, was helpful and friendly. He asked questions and pointed out problems with the code I might want to consider. None of it felt adversarial or interrogative.
I interviewed in the end of November 2016, and I think they iterate pretty rapidly on their format, so some of my experience may be a bit dated.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Suppose an existing implementation of memcache, which can only store values up to 1MB, and allows distributed/remote access to the same cache (i.e., you can store something, and your colleague can access the value you stored). You would like to write a library that has the exact same API, and which uses this memcache under the hood, but which allows clients to store values of arbitrary size. Talk through how you would accomplish this.
Fill out quiz and then taking coding interview. Fully automated followed by connects you to companies to have further discussions and further technical interviews. Very straightforward process. Accepted offer from one of the companies i interviewed with.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Triplebyte
Interview
Skipped straight to onsite because of Triplebyte profile.
Onsite was very organized. Three coding challenges (frontend, backend, CLI game), one architecture, one product, one leadership. Respectful and well managed overall. Pretty hard tech interviews.

Question 1
Build command-line Tetris in the language of your choice (scoped down for the interview, not the full game of course)
