I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Triplebyte (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2019
Interview
The 1st round is a multiple-choice quiz. Fairly simple if you have a CS background and a little experience in writing/deploying a small application. It covers coursework and general knowledge.
---
The 2nd round is a 2 hour phone screen. They provide you all the information and ask you to prepare by writing a small minesweeper game and setup your preferred IDE.
The first segment of 2nd round is building a much simpler game. The interviewer is not expecting you to finish it, and he's watching your experience with the IDE, code quality and general problem solving skills. If you prepared the minesweeper game, this is hella easy.
The second segment is a debugging challenge. There's 5 failed test cases that you need to fix and you have to fix them sequentially. It's a little tricky and the interviewer is not allowed to give you any hints. I was stuck at the second case, and it was frustrating.
You'll get a 5-10mins break here.
The third segment is Q&A. You'll be quizzed on a myriad topics (e.g database, HTTP protocol) and you should keep the answer short, so he/she can go through more questions quickly.
The fourth is a systems design question. I was guided to reason the frameworks/technologies I would use to implement "X". It felt a bit weird but I bombed the second+third segment so the interviewer may be checked out at this point.
When the phone screen is completed, you'll get a brutally honest review of your performance along with some specific tips to improve it. That is super awesome and absolutely worth your time.
Fill out quiz and then taking coding interview. Fully automated followed by connects you to companies to have further discussions and further technical interviews. Very straightforward process. Accepted offer from one of the companies i interviewed with.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Triplebyte
Interview
Skipped straight to onsite because of Triplebyte profile.
Onsite was very organized. Three coding challenges (frontend, backend, CLI game), one architecture, one product, one leadership. Respectful and well managed overall. Pretty hard tech interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Build command-line Tetris in the language of your choice (scoped down for the interview, not the full game of course)
