I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools (Newark, NJ) in May 2014
Interview
The entire process took about a month and a half. I submitted my application on the Uncommon website and was contacted a week later for a phone interview. The position I initially applied for was already filled internally but I was asked to interview for an Office Manager or Special Projects Coordinator position. I wasn't informed the position was closed until I was on the phone with my interviewer. The interviewer was a representative from HR. She asked a mixture of personal and professional questions. She was very sweet and professional and made me feel at ease. She immediately offered me the opportunity to come in for an immersion day which is the next step in the hiring process. The Immersion Day was scheduled for the following week and I was one of six candidates. Usually you are able to see Morning Circle during the Immersion Day but I did not during mine. I was asked to complete 3 tasks which included preparing a parent communication, developing a process plan for an upcoming event, listing a group of tasks in order of importance and an excel task. I was debriefed on the process plan and list of tasks by 3 school leaders. They asked me a series of questions about how and why I made my specific choices. Next was the interview with 3 school leaders where I was asked similar questions to my phone interview. I also completed a mock phone call and was debriefed on the parent communication I developed. I was offered the job a week after my Immersion Day. I then met with my future DOO at the campus I would be working at for one final interview. About 3 days after my contract was to me and I began working a week and a half later.
I applied online. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools (New York, NY) in Sep 2020
Interview
Several performance tasks pertaining to the role. The tasks had a pretty quick turn around time but they were useful for seeing what the responsibilities for the role will be like, and a zoom interview that was great. They are also very quick with communication
