The process was thorough, very conversational, and professional throughout most of the interviews. It began with a brief phone screen that seemed to be conducted by an external firm. The screener had very limited information about the role or university and was unable to answer any questions, which made that part of the process feel a bit disconnected.
After that, I had a 1:1 virtual interview with the hiring manager. This was followed by two separate panel interviews scheduled back-to-back:
Panel 1 focused on academic affairs, faculty partnerships, and instructional design philosophy. This conversation was with leadership from the Office of Education Design and Development and the Provost’s Office.
Panel 2 focused more on operational leadership, cross-functional collaboration, project management, and working with media and technology teams.
The interviews themselves were very collegial, thoughtful, and allowed for strong two-way conversations. Unfortunately, after the panels were complete, I was not provided any further communication or decision, despite following up. The role remained posted for several more months before eventually being closed. While the interview conversations were very positive, the lack of closure or feedback after final interviews was disappointing.
