I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Vangst
Interview
First was a pretty open-ended conversation with the CTO that was originally scheduled for about 45 minutes but ended up going on for an hour. Lots of generic architecture and leadership questions.
CTO gave me a couple red flags. First, he was very quick to blame current problems on previous engineers. Second was he talked at length about how the current team was a very tight-knit group of guys who have worked together for years, and will be resistant to change. Thought it was strange that the team had been working together for years if the old team was just fired.
Still, decided to continue with the next step which was a pretty simple sample project. The next piece of feedback I received was from the CTO saying, my code was excellent but they would not continue due to culture issues. At this point in time I've not talked to anybody else on the team.
I think they hired a new CTO that pushed out the old engineering team and replaced them with a bunch of his friends. Job posting is a waste of time.
